“Showpiece of Shimla.”
Located on the Ridge, Christ Church is the most prominent landmark of Shimla. It overshadows all the other heritage buildings around it with its sheer majesty and beauty. We got a sense of peace and serenity just looking at it.
It was built in 1857 by the British in the neo-Gothic style of architecture, and is the second oldest church in North India. It has stained glass windows and a large clock which sadly does not work now. The building itself is very well maintained.
We visited the church in the late afternoon, but the best time to see it is late evening when it is all lit up.
