Historical Lighthouse.
The Prospect Point Lighthouse is a historical landmark of Stanley Park. It was established in October 1888, just four days after Stanley Park was opened. Three months earlier, on July 25, 1888, the steamship ‘Beaver’ had slammed into Prospect Point. The current lighthouse, established in 1948 is a square pyramidal cement tower painted white with a single red horizontal stripe.
We visited the lighthouse while hiking along the seawall to Prospect Point. The entry to the tower was closed, but we got great views of the stunning surroundings of the harbor and the Lion’s Gate Bridge spanning the Burrard Inlet.
