Good Non Vegetarian Restaurant.
We visited this restaurant for dinner at Dharwad, where we had halted for the night on our road trip from Pune to Bangalore. It is located in a lane, Mahaveer Marg, just off the old Pune-Bangalore Highway about 1 km from Court Circle in Dharwad.
We found the restaurant to be quite well furnished and decorated, and the wooden tables had checked table cloths, and their six or eight tables were neatly laid out. Service was very courteous and fast. Their speciality was non vegetarian and tandoori food which included fish, kebabs, mutton and biryanis.
As soon as we were seated the steward suggested we try their fish, which had freshly arrived. Dharwad is not a coastal town, and they must be getting their supply from nearby Goa. So we ordered the Surmai (Kingfish) masala fry, and it was really tasty and fresh. We also had their Chicken Lajawab, which was less spicy but this was not as good as the fish. We had the meal with tandoori rotis and quite enjoyed it. The biryanis looked tempting but we were quite full.
They have an open kitchen where you can see your food being cooked. Prices were quite reasonable and we were served by the steward himself. Maybe we could try out their biryani on the next visit.
